EDUCATION FROM A CLINICAL PERSPECTIVE:

Our campaign therapist, Nancy Cowden, LMFT, is a clinician with decades of experience helping young people manage their mental health struggles. Over these many years of treating youth, Nancy witnessed first-hand how many youth struggle with thoughts of self-harm and suicide, and how this issue has only grown more prevalent with each passing year. As “Campaign Therapist,” Nancy will write about a different subject each month, focusing on how it manifests in “REAL LIFE.” She’ll detail how one can manage symptoms, ways for parents and other youth advocates to provide support, and of note, if and how that month’s issue contributes to one’s risk of self-harm and/or suicide.

Nancy aka “The Campaign Therapist,” has her own blog that offers high-quality articles on the latest topics in mental health and further explores the issue of mental health care access. We recommend her sight for many reasons, but perhaps it’s best feature is it helps visitors navigate what mental health services are available and how best to access them. This blog is the precursor to a website that Nancy will be releasing within a month or so that will directly tackle the issue of the lack of mental health care services available to youth. This website will be a key part of @ENDTHESILENTEPIDEMIC’s 80/20 initiative. Nancy, as the author of this mental health educational content as well as the founder of this upcoming, one-of-kind website, is the co-director of our 80/20 initiative.
